Henry

Support, Accounting, Office Management

Henry’s musical influences were shaped by tapes from his older cousins, which were given to him as a kid. These tapes featured a diverse range of artists such as Jean–Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Bomb the Bass, Prince, SOS Band, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, Ice–T, DAF, and various Acid House and early Electro/Breakdance compilations. His fascination deepened when he discovered a program for his Amiga 500 called Octamed, which allowed him to sample using a primitive 8–bit sound card.

Later on, when he accidentally tuned into some British radio waves via his parents' satellite dish and encountered UK club music, his passion was reignited. This led to a journey of collecting records, buying equipment, and delving into music production (the hard way — long before YouTube). His efforts eventually resulted in several vinyl releases across various electronic genres and a solid DJ touring schedule. Over time, his interest shifted more and more towards studio work, not only focusing on his own productions but also engineering other people’s music.

Building on this experience and network, his journey took him through various roles in the music industry, including positions at a music gear shop, an American audio manufacturer, freelance audio engineering, and as a vinyl cutting engineer at a mastering studio. Ultimately, he found his place among other like–minded audio enthusiasts at u–he.

Fun facts

  • Played excessively too many video games as a kid on his Amiga, which led to absolutely no interest in such things after turning 14.
  • Was a bass player in a Metallica cover band. Ironically, And Justice For All is his favorite album (where the bass is infamously inaudible).

Fav movies/series

Eastbound & Down, Twin Peaks, My Name Is Earl, Atlanta, Beach Bum, anything by John Carpenter

First record ever bought

Paul Hardcastle — 19 (German version). Pure disappointment at first, because I was expecting the 'cool' British newscaster instead of our lame German counterpart being sampled.
