Major MFM2 update, Kinesis soundset for Hive

published

Firstly, MFM2 has just taken a giant leap forward: Most obviously, the original “3D disk” UI has been replaced by a much more practical design. Under the hood, we added CLAP as well as native support for Apple Silicon (M1) CPU, macOS Monterey.

Some other notable improvements in version 2.5:

  • New input section with transient control and filter
  • “Granular”: pitch shifter, syncable to song tempo
  • “Diffusor”: from audio smear to complex reverbs
  • Full preset browser, preferences page, MIDI Learn pages

Secondly, a new soundset for Hive 2: Bryan Lake (a.k.a. Sound Author) has created a 128-patch set focussing on timbral movement: Organic grooves, snappy generative arpeggios, evolving sequences and lush ambient pads. The idea was for the sounds to rhythmically “dance around each other” when layered, avoiding overt repetition. All Kinesis presets have XY pad control, and NKS audio previews are included in the installer.
