MFM2 user experience

MFM2 is the first u-he plugin to feature some remarkable improvements to the plugin engine:

- resizable editor window

- switchable editor theme

- info window for patch meta data

After spending only a few hours/projects with these features you'll wonder how you could ever have lived without them.

The [Look] menu in the top left corner of the editor provides you with a range of choices for look and size of the editor window. If for instance the default style ("hard boiled") is too strenuous for your eyes, you can choose the much lighter "cinnamon" theme. Or, you can use different themes for different instances to keep better overview in your project (more themes will pop up on the net, for sure).

No matter what size your monitor, you can easily fit a horde of MFMs on your laptop monitor - or you just fill your 30 inch screen that sits in a distance behind your mixing desk with a single instance. Resizing the editor makes MFM2 adaptable to your current working scenario.

While not anything fancy, the patch meta data will help you find your way through the presets. Just click the [info] box and a little window will pop up. You can move it around so it doesn't get in your way while you browse patches and tweak a bit.

Most patches that come with More Feedback Machine sport 3 essential items of information:
  • description - what is the patch about? How is it made?

  • usage - how is it used? What does MIDI do?

  • name of the author

Whenever you save your own patches, it's advisable to fill in these three items. Others will be grateful when you share the patches and you'll be happy to know what it was about after a couple of months!
